In today’s edition of Blogger Love, I will be featuring Kate from Afternoon Tees. I ask everyone who wants to be featured in Blogger Love to answer a few questions so that we can get to know them and their blog so I’m excited for you all to get to know Kate a little better!
Tell us a bit about you and your blog.
My name is Kate and I run Afternoon Tees, a blog looking at afternoon tea, particularly in the North East of England.
Why did you start blogging?
I always wanted to have my own blog but I didn’t know what to write about. Then one day I went out to afternoon tea with my mum and sister and they mentioned that it would be awesome if there was a blog where you could find out what the best afternoon tea in the North East was… I bought the domain name when I got home and Afternoon Tees was born!
What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
Knowing that you’ve helped people out – a lot of people I know have used the site to find the best place to take friends and family for afternoon tea which is pretty fabulous!
What’s your least favourite thing about blogging?
The amount of work you have to put in – so many people think blogging is really easy and it’s not. You have to research the blog, write it, check the SEO, create graphics, promote on social media and encourage people to read and comment… there’s a lot to do, and you’re doing it on top of work and home life.
Tell us about your favourite blog post.
Do I have to pick just one? Probably ‘Five things that annoy me about afternoon tea‘ – it was a little controversial and even though it was published nine months ago, still inspires debate and conversation!
Describe your blog in three words.
What do you do when you’re not blogging?
I work in marketing so blogging is a bit of a busman’s holiday – I pick up lots of useful hints I can use at work and vice versa. In my spare time, I like travelling, going to gigs, baking, arts and craft…and going out for afternoon tea of course!
If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Tough question! If it wasn’t afternoon tea it would have to be Japanese food, I love sushi and katsu curry!
What would be your perfect day?
What’s your top tip for getting traffic to your blog?
Think about your keywords and use them as much as you can in your blog post – in the body of your text, in your headings, your URL, even your alt text in your images. So many people Google things these days so you want to try and appear on the first page for your chosen keywords.
I hope you all enjoyed getting to know Kate through those questions. Don’t forget to check out Afternoon Tees. If you want to follow Kate on social media, you can do so through on Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram.
