Blogger Love: Kirsty (Unseen Beauty)

In today’s edition of Blogger Love, I will be featuring Kirsty from Unseen Beauty. I ask everyone who wants to be featured in Blogger Love to answer a few questions so that we can get to know them and their blog so I’m excited for you all to get to know Kirsty a little better!

Blogger Love Kirsty Unseen Beauty

Tell us a bit about you and your blog.

Hi, I’m Kirsty from Unseen Beauty, which is a beauty and lifestyle blog from the perspective of someone who is blind. I talk about new skincare and beauty products that I’ve discovered, places I’ve visited, animals, subscription boxes, and other things that I find interesting!

Why did you start blogging?

I already had another blog for my language teaching business, but some of the things that I wanted to write about would have been out of place on my business blog. I wanted a new space on the internet where I could talk about all these other things, and hopefully find other people who shared my interests so that we could chat in the comments, share ideas, and so that I could find new blogs to follow as well.

What’s your favourite thing about blogging?

I’m a teacher, so I enjoy sharing what I’ve learned. But I also enjoy using the blog to help people understand things about disability issues, to raise awareness about organisations that I care about, such as animal charities, and to find new friends.

What’s your least favourite thing about blogging?

Photos – because I’m blind and can’t take my own. So although I try to get some for new products so that people can see what they’re reading about, the photos are not a huge part of the blog for me, and my readers come because of the ideas and the writing.

Tell us about your favourite blog post.

That is a tough one. I like different posts for different reasons, but I had such a wonderful time visiting the wolf sanctuary – I think I would choose that post.

Describe your blog in three words.

honest, thought-provoking – because I write longer articles and often want to leave people with something to think about

What do you do when you’re not blogging?

I’m a language teacher and I work with adults across Europe who want to improve their English. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my partner and friends, going for long walks, reading, cooking, and discovering new things. I believe we should never stop learning.

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Cheese – in all its forms!

What would be your perfect day?

Time spent with people I care about with interesting conversations, good food, and a long walk in the countryside!

What’s your top tip for getting traffic to your blog?

Be the kind of person that other people want to interact with. Driving traffic to your blog is one thing, but if you get to know your readers, interact with them, visit their blogs, and are generally someone that people want to talk to, they will keep coming back and maybe share your posts too. It takes longer this way, but I think it builds more long-term traffic.

I hope you all enjoyed getting to know Kirsty through those questions and don’t forget to check out Unseen Beauty. If you want to follow Kirsty on social media, you can do so on Twitter.
