Hello, welcome back to my blog! You may have seen recently that I shared My 10 Favourite Mean Girls on Broadway Songs. Today, I’ll be sharing my favourite Frozen: The Broadway Musical songs. If you’ve seen the 2013 film then you’ll definitely know a couple of songs on this list but there are so many new songs written for the musical which are phenomenal! The full soundtrack is available on YouTube here so I really recommend you go and listen to it because you won’t be disappointed! I’ll also be linking each song below so click on the titles of the songs to hear them. It was quite tricky to pick only 10 songs from the show because there are about 20 in all but I’m pretty happy with my picks so let’s get to the list!
1. Let It Go
Let It Go is my absolute favourite song of all time I love it so much. Idina’s version from the film is amazing and I thought nobody could top it. Then, Caissie Levy came along. The first half of the song is nothing special really but then the second half just blows me away every time and the ending is just phenomenal! American panel show, The View (kind of like the UK’s Loose Women) recorded this song on Broadway and it’s actually my favourite thing, I have to watch it every day and it makes me cry EVERY TIME I watch it!
Monster was the first song I heard from the Broadway show and I knew I would love the rest of the show after hearing this. It’s such a sad song because Elsa thinks everyone would be better without her and I just want to give her a hug! Elsa is not a monster! I also love Hans’ line in the song. I don’t know why, I just do!
Okay so I’m on number 3 which means so far this list is 100% Elsa songs but she’s my favourite character and Caissie Levy is phenomenal! I love this song because Elsa’s just such a more developed character in the musical than in the film which makes me love her even more and I love that this song is like a look into her thoughts. The piano is so pretty in the song too I just love everything about it!
I can’t express how much I love this song (but I’m going to try). There’s just so much going on and it comes right at the climax of the show just before the finale and I love that they repeat some songs like Let It Go, True Love (not featured on this list) and Monster and everyone’s voices overlap it’s just epic!
The first time I sat and just listened to the album and I got to this song, the last one in the show, I cried. It’s such an incredible ending and when the whole cast comes together and sings Let It Go it just makes me so happy and I don’t know. It’s just the best way to end the show! I love the little lyric changes like “Let’s fill this world with light and love” it’s just so relevant to the world we’re living in now and such an important message. (Just so you know, I listened to every song as I was writing this and I am SOBBING right now).
RELATED: Musical Theatre Song Challenge
This one is one of my favourites in the film and I really like the little change they made by adding part of Demi Lovato’s version of Let It Go from the film, it was so great they could include it even a little bit because I love Demi’s version.
I wasn’t sure if I should include this song because it was cut from the show but it just makes me smile so I decided to add it to the list. It sounds like it’s going to be such a dramatic song about Elsa’s life falling apart or something but it’s about Olaf literally falling apart. I’m just really pleased they gave Olaf another song!
8. In Summer
I loved this song in the film and I still love it in the musical. I love Olaf as do most people, he just brings a bit of fun to the show. Greg Hildreth sounds so much like Josh Gad which makes this even better (and also a little creepy like how?).
I was in two minds on whether or not to include this song in the list because it’s a tad too long for me but it’s just too amusing not to include it! It’s sung by Oken, the “yoohoo, hi family” guy in the film and I love him! I haven’t seen the show but I’ve read that this song is better when you actually see the show. One of the comments on YouTube says “If anyone watching this doesn’t know, this opens act two with the ensemble doing a dance number naked with only leaves covering them up. No joke. They use clear body suits and they use twigs with leaves on them as Pom poms” and it really sounds like a fun part of the show!
This is the opening song and I think it’s such a great way to kick off such an incredible show. It’s a really fun song and shows Elsa and Anna as young girls and it’s quite funny in places. *”like run naked in the breeze- ANNA!”*. I really like the Let The Sun Shine On parts of the song, it sounds almost tribal/gospel choir-y and the whole cast together is so powerful and I feel like it would definitely be a goosebumps moment!
