Hello and welcome back to my blog! I’ve got a very exciting post today! I’ll be reviewing some teas sent to my by Adagio Teas in exchange for this post which I was extremely excited about but honestly, I wasn’t sure whether to accept or not. I’m not a fan of tea, I don’t drink it at all but I spoke to my friend Bexa about it and she said let them know you’re not a tea drinker but you’re willing to try some which is what I did. I took a look at their website and told them I had been wanting to try some iced teas for a while especially now that summer is approaching. They said that was fine and they would also send some iced teas and regular teas for me to try as well as letting me run a giveaway so check that out at the end of this post!
I actually got sent way more than I could have imagined so I’m extremely grateful for that! They sent the following things (everything is linked and the items in bold are what I’ll be telling you about today):
- ingenuiTEA Loose Leaf Tea Infuser
- Small Tea Glasses
- Glass Pitcher
- Classic Iced Teas Sampler
- Orchard Iced Teas Sampler
- Berries Iced Gift Sampler
- Samurai Mate
- Pina Colada
- Peach Bellini
- Berry Creme Compote
- Earl Grey Moonlight
- Jasmine Phoenix Pearls
- Casablanca Twist
- Lemon Meringue Green
The Classic Iced Teas Sampler comes with 3 flavours of tea:
Ceylon Sonata Iced Tea – Fresh, bright, citrusy aroma balanced with sweet juicy notes of mandarin peel or grapefruit.
Rooibos Iced Tea – Very forgiving – won’t over-steep. Steep hot or refrigerate overnight in cold water.
Peppermint Iced Tea – A Mediterranean native, revered for its cool, crisp aroma, deeply fresh flavour and smooth finish.
Of these three, I tried the Ceylon Sonata which I made by putting the tea bag in 1L of water and left it in the fridge for a couple of hours with a peeled and segmented tangerine and sugar. I wasn’t really a fan of this one. This is going to sound stupid but it tasted too much like tea for me.
Like the Classic Iced Tea Sampler, the Orchard Iced Teas Sampler also comes with 3 flavours:
Mango Iced Tea – An Adagio favourite. Citrusy Ceylon black tea, lush mango flavour. Juicy texture and floral aroma, creamy-dry finish.
Blood Orange Iced Tea – Deep vibrant colour and sweet flavour. Hearty with a good balance of orange peel dryness and fruit juiciness.
Peach Oolong Iced Tea – Oolong tea with the summer flavour of perfectly ripened fruit. Steep hot or refrigerate overnight in cold water.
My favourite of these, was the Blood Orange tea, I loved it! I made it, again, by putting the teabag in 1L of water and popped it in the fridge for a couple of hours. With this one, I also used a tangerine but instead of just putting the slices in, I squeezed each slice before putting it in so I could get the juice. I think that’s where I went wrong with the Ceylon Sonata. The Blood Orange tea was delicious and refreshing which was perfect because it’s been so hot! I also smells very nice and orangey!
The Berries Iced Tea Sampler comes with… yep! You guessed it! 3 flavours of tea which are:
White Blueberry Iced Tea – White tea with juicy blueberry flavour. Very fragrant, soft mouthfeel, refreshing finish.
Berry Blast Iced Tea – A delicious blend of natural fruits and spices. Bold and slightly tart flavour, with a juicy clean finish.
Wild Strawberry Iced Tea – Sweet strawberry and sugared rhubarb aroma, beautiful warm colour, and pleasant aroma.
I’ve tried two of the three teas in this set, the Berry Blast and Wild Strawberry and I adored them both! The first one I tried was the Berry Blast which was also the first of all the teas I tried. I made this one with 1l of boiling water and let it cool by putting in ice cubes in but it took FOREVER. At the time, I didn’t realise I could make them with cold water and just leave the tea bag in longer (I know, I’m stupid but I don’t drink tea so I don’t know how it works!). My first impression of this tea was that the tea bag smelled incredible when I took it out of the bag! The Berry Blast tasted really nice and very fruity and you can really taste strawberries. If I were to describe the taste of this one, I would say it tastes like a blackcurrant lemsip but sweeter!
My favourite of all the teas I’ve tried so far was the Wild Strawberry. It was incredibly refreshing and really quenched my thirst! I made this one with 1L of water and some cut up strawberries, popped the tea bag in and left it in the fridge for about 6 hours. As you’d imagine, it tasted and smelled a lot like strawberries which is good for me because they’re one of my favourite fruits!
The final tea I tried was the Lemon Meringue Green which is a vanilla citrus twist to a classic green tea, this refreshing blend is the perfect slice of spring. Indulge in the creamy scent and flavour of perfect meringue upon a bitter-sweet lemon pie.
I think I may have made this one wrong. I put 1tsp in one of the glass mugs sent to me and added boiling water and left it for about 5 minutes. I think I should have left it longer even though the packet said 2-3 minutes. It tasted like hot water and nothing else really.
I used the glass pitcher to make all of the iced teas. It’s the perfect size and it fits in the door of my fridge really well. I also used the glass mugs but I would have liked them to be a little bigger. I wasn’t able to use the ingenuiTEA Loose Leaf Tea Infuser because the box says Iced Tea but all of the iced teas came in tea bags so it’s pointless. I would have liked to use it for the hot tea as they’re loose leaves but I’ve just seen on the website that you can put hot water in it. I was a little nervous to try it myself because it’s made of plastic but now that I know it can be used for hot water I’ll definitely be giving it a go!
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, Adagio Teas have also said I can run a giveaway which is incredibly kind of them! The winner will get a selection of iced teas and take it from me (a non-tea drinker) they’re delicious and perfect for Summer!
