Blogger Love: Elin (My Blurred World)

In today’s edition of Blogger Love, I will be featuring Elin from My Blurred World. I ask everyone who wants to be featured in Blogger Love to answer a few questions so that we can get to know them and their blog so I’m excited for you all to get to know Elin a little better!

Tell us a bit about you and your blog.

My name is Elin and I am the writer behind the blog My Blurred World. I write about everything I’m passionate about, from beauty and fashion to general lifestyle topics and disability. One of the main aims of my blog is to raise awareness of disability but I hope to do so in a more entertaining way by explaining how I make daily tasks such as applying makeup and picking out an outfit accessible to me as a visually impaired person.

Why did you start blogging?

I’ve always had a passion for writing and I wanted a space where I could express this (blogging being the perfect solution). I also started my blog in the hope of raising awareness of disability and to hopefully help, educate and motivate others.

What’s your favourite thing about blogging?

I love the writing aspect of it but one of my favourite things is the community. I love getting to know new people and hearing about their experiences. I’ve met some of my closest friends through blogging which I’m so grateful for.

What’s your least favourite thing about blogging?

This is a tough one since I love blogging so much. I think one of my least favourite things is working really hard on a post only for it not to be seen by many people. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t blog for the numbers, I never have but it can be a little disheartening at times when I put so much effort into writing my posts when it doesn’t reach as many people as I had hoped. As I said before, one of my main aims is to raise awareness and help people and this is why I want my blog to reach as many people as possible.

Tell us about your favourite blog post.

This is another tough one because I love of a lot of the posts that I’ve written. One of my favourites is a post called ‘Do I want my eyesight back?’. It’s one of my favourites because it shows me how far I’ve come in terms of accepting my disability.

Describe your blog in three words.

Different, creative and informative (hopefully!).

What do you do when you’re not blogging?

I am currently a student at The Open University so a lot of my time is dedicated to reading and writing assignments. But when I have a few hours to spare you will most likely find me listening to music, watching YouTube or online shopping.

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

It has to be between curry and pizza.

What would be your perfect day?

A day spent with my family and/or friends is always a perfect day in my eyes.

What’s your top tip for getting traffic to your blog?

This is something I struggle with but one thing I would say is to figure out the best ways of using social media and using it to your advantage. I always try my best to include relevant hashtags and brands/organisations when tweeting about my latest blog posts. I also have a Facebook page for my blog which I find drives a lot of traffic to my site.

I hope you all enjoyed getting to know Elin through those questions. Don’t forget to check out My Blurred World. If you want to follow Elin on social media, you can do so on TwitterFacebook and Instagram.
