Blogmas Day 16: Christmas Home Tour

Christmas is my favourite time of year and one of the reasons for that is the decorations. I just adore how pretty everything looks from the lights as you drive through the streets to the decorations inside my house which I just love. We have similar decorations every year and I think they’re so pretty! For today’s post, I’m going to give you a tour of my home now that all of our decorations are up.

The Staircase

This is the first thing you see when you walk through my front door. One year, we had some spare tinsel so I decided to put it coming down the bannister and since then, it’s been part of our decorating ritual. This year, my mam decided to put these stuffed toys on the stairs and honestly, I still can’t decide if I like them, I find them a bit random.

The Christmas Tree

The next thing I’m going to show you is my Christmas tree. I absolutely love my tree, it’s just so pretty! It’s filled with baubles, bows and crackers (which we’ve had for years and have never been allowed to pull them). There’s such a variety of decorations on the tree but everything still matches. The tree is topped with an angel which I always put on the tree when all of the other decorations are on it. What I love to do is put some lights up her skirt so she kind of glows a bit. She just looks that little bit more magical.

The Rest of the Living/Dining room

On the window, we have these gold dangly stars which I think are so pretty. We also have 3 candles with ‘peace’, ‘hope’ and ‘love’ written on them (I think), a candle holder of a nativity scene which we put a fake candle in and a little Santa on a rocking horse.

On the TV stand, there’s a little nativity scene with Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus and the 3 kings.

The mantelpiece and fireplace have the most decorations on them. Along the top, we have a banner which says Nadolig Llawen which is Merry Christmas in Welsh. On the mantelpiece, there’s a garland which we’ve had for as long as I can remember, It’s full of lights, bows, beads, baubles and little presents and it makes the room feel so cosy. Along the bottom, there are two little Snowmen and the berry tree things on either side which I don’t really understand!

In the dining room, we have a piano and on top of the piano, we have a gold runner which I’m pretty sure only comes out at Christmas but I’m not 100% now I come to think about it! We then have a little snowman family, a little fabric tree which my mam made in her WI craft class this year and this wicker type Christmas tree. When we brought it down this year, we discovered that the lights on it weren’t working so my mam asked me to take them all out (which I did) then, she asked me to put the new ones on. It was so much harder than I thought and I got so frustrated by the end that I just shoved them in the bottom and hoped for the best and I don’t think if looks too bad!

Well, there we have it. My Christmas home tour! I hope you enjoyed seeing all of my decorations. If you missed my reflection on 2017 yesterday, you can read that here. I really enjoyed looking back on how great 2017 has been!

Thank you! Same, I can’t wait until I can decorate my own house however I want. At least you’ve got a few things to bring some festive-ness to your home 🙂
