5 Things I Would Change About Strictly Come Dancing

5 Things I Would Change About Strictly Come Dancing

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know I’m a massive fan of Strictly Come Dancing but there are a few things I would change about the show. Today, I’m going to tell you 5 things I would change if I was in charge of Strictly Come Dancing.

1. Have two live shows on a Saturday night

In the earlier series of Strictly, they used to have the main show and the results show on the same night. Now, they have the main show on the Saturday and pre-record the results to be shown on Sundays. I hate this because I always want to look at the spoiler (and I usually do but last series I didn’t once, yay me!). I just don’t understand why they changed it, I think they just wanted to get Strictly on every day of the week but 6 days a week is fine by me😂!

2. Release the Voting Figures

The X Factor do it, Britain’s Got Talent do it so why can’t Strictly do it? People are always complaining about some kind of fix so releasing the voting stats at the end of the series is a way to calm those complaints. I understand that they could still make up the figures if they wanted to (although it would be super unethical) but it would help the situation if they had something to back up the results.

3. The Dances

In the earlier series of Strictly, they used to have two dance styles per week, one ballroom and one latin. This was a great way of comparing the couples on the same style of dance but now they have a mixture of all the dances every week. Personally, I prefer having two styles of dance a week instead of a mixture so I would go back to the old way. I would also make the couples wait a few weeks (like they used to) to do the speciality dances like Charleston and Argentine Tango, you used to have to get quite far in the competition to do those dances but now they have Charlestons in week 1/2, which isn’t really fair because you haven’t learnt the basics yet.

4. Fusion Dances

A few years ago, Strictly added fusion week to the competition. I don’t know why, but it only lasted for one series but it gave me one of my all-time favourite Strictly performances. I think it’s a great idea and super clever when it’s done properly. It’s when the couples are given two dance styles and they have to fuse them together to make one dance. They can do this by splitting the dance in two or mixing both styles all the way through. I feel it’s better when the dance styles are super different because it makes it more interesting. I’ve added my favourite below.

5. The Final Result

The last thing I would change is the format for the final. Until series 9 (I think) they had three couples in the final, one would get eliminated after 2 dances and then the other two couples would dance again and then one would be crowned the winner. I much prefer this because I hate not having a definite first, second, third, instead we have a champion and 2 runner-ups which is super frustrating for me because my favourite (aside from last year, yay Ore and Jo!) always come in the runners-up position (poor Kev) and I hate not knowing if my favourites were second or third, having runners-up is for babies and kids who can’t handle losing😂.

There you have it, 5 things I would change (or add) about (or to) Strictly Come Dancing. Do you watch the show and agree with anything on this list? Let me know in the comments! Also, if the producers of Strictly happen to read this, please let me also be a producer/anything to do with the show😂!
