Blogger Love: The Pingel Sisters

Blogger Love

In today’s edition of Blogger Love, I will be featuring Rachael and Jaclyn AKA The Pingel Sisters. I ask everyone who wants to be featured in Blogger Love to answer a few questions so that we can get to know them and their blog so I’m excited for you all to get to know The Pingel Sisters a little better!

Tell us a bit about you and your blog.

We are two sisters who grew up in a small town in Ohio and now live on opposite sides of the country. On the outside, it looks like we should be opposites – Rachael, the stay-at-home mom whose money-saving skills are legendary, and Jaclyn, the working mom who is the multi-tasking queen. Most assume these roles are contradictory, but we find our viewpoints complementary.

Why did you start blogging?

We just launched our blog Pingelsisters.com in March, so we are pretty new to blogging. As sisters, we’ve been lucky to be so close in age that we have a built-in support system: We went to the same college, got married a year apart, and started having kids about the same time. We want to offer that same support and advice to other savvy millennial women.

What we really want is to help millennial women lead better lives. But what constitutes a better life? Of course, lots of things go into a better life. But we’ve narrowed our focus to four topics we think every millennial woman needs: Life, Work, Travel and Books.

What’s your favourite thing about blogging?

Our favourite thing about blogging is being part of a larger world. One of our first posts was Jaclyn’s tips about going to the gym for the first time. Every new blogger wonders if anyone reads their posts. Is this blog really worth all the time and effort we are spending on it? But when she got a comment from an absolute stranger thanking her for giving her the courage to go back to the gym, we realized that we can make a difference in people’s lives.

What’s your least favourite thing about blogging?

Time. It takes us a lot of time and effort to make our blog look as professional as we can. Managing time is always our biggest stress. There is always something more you can do, but eventually, you have to realize that done is better than perfect.

Tell us about your favourite blog post.

Rachael – I wrote a post called Read This Not That which I am extremely proud of. I took fourteen of bestselling books I had read the previous year and shared which ones were worth the read and which ones weren’t.

Jaclyn – I started going to the gym this year, and I shared some tips for your first time at the gym. I love how it showcases my personality while also helping other people.

Describe your blog in three words.

Savvy, millennial and fun.

What do you do when you’re not blogging?

Rachael – I’m a mom of four little ones, so most of my time is spent with them. I love to read, bike, hike, travel, and visit national parks.

Jaclyn – Currently I keep busy as a volunteer for a local non-profit, making sure I go to the gym on a regular basis, and teaching myself how to play the piano. Since I work at a nationally recognized arts conservatory, I get to attend a ton of arts programming (theater, music, dance, and film) free of cost.

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Rachael – smoothies

Jaclyn – sandwiches

Slightly cheating because we can have any variation on a smoothie or sandwich we want. 🙂

What would be your perfect day?

Rachael – A family hike in an amazing beautiful location.

Jaclyn –  A day with sunshine, no schedule, no priorities, and a good book to keep me company outside.

What’s your top tip for getting traffic to your blog?

Pinterest! If you really want blog traffic, Pinterest is the way to go. Spend your time setting up your account, joining group boards, creating beautiful pins and using keyword heavy descriptions. Then sit down and figure out a pinning strategy – whether manual or by using a scheduler. If you can crack the Pinterest code, we promise you traffic will come.

I hope you all enjoyed getting to know The Pingel Sisters through those questions. Don’t forget to check out Pingelsisters.com. If you want to follow Rachael and Jaclyn on social media, you can do so through on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.
