Blogger Love: Mark (Thoughts Of A First Time Dad)

Blogger Love

In today’s edition of Blogger Love, I will be featuring Mark from Thoughts Of A First Time Dad which I’m excited about because I haven’t had a dad blogger feature in Blogger Love before! I ask everyone who wants to be featured in Blogger Love to answer a few questions so that we can get to know them and their blog so I’m looking forward to you all to getting to know Mark a little better!

Blogger Love: Mark

Tell us a bit about you and your blog.

Hi, I’m Mark and I’m a dad blogger from Glasgow and married to Caroline. The majority of my content is provided by our daughter Mara who is 2 years old.

Why did you start blogging?

I wanted to diarise my wife’s pregnancy more than anything, and starting a blog seemed like a great way to do that. When Mara was born at 32 weeks, we spent 5 weeks living in SCBU and I had a lot of time to pass. I started to post more frequently than I had done previously and it kind of grew legs from there.

What’s your favourite thing about blogging?

The people who I have become friends with through it. The blogging community is so varied and expansive, and personally, I forget that people read what I’ve written sometimes, so when those friends comment on your post, or even ask for advice because they’re going through something that you may have covered, it’s nice to be able to support them, get to know them help them and ultimately have a laugh with.

What’s your least favourite thing about blogging?

As a parent blogger, there never seems to be enough time to write the content! I have loads of ideas but so little time!

Tell us about your favourite blog post.

I think my favourite post so far was the piece I wrote for Mara’s first birthday. As a preemie, that first year was a beautiful, testing, lovely, growth-filled time and Caroline and I were both pretty emotional. I’m so proud of how this piece turned out.

Describe your blog in three words.

Funny, endearing, memorable

What do you do when you’re not blogging?

When not blogging, I enjoy reading books with Mara, running (occasionally!) music and going to the cinema – it’s almost 2am and we are just home from an impromptu trip to go see Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom – and I’m about to embark on a training scheme to become a Volunteer Emergency First Responder in our local area.

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Lasagne. I’m basically Garfield in human form.

What would be your perfect day?

My perfect day would be the day Caroline and I became parents and we both got to hold Mara for the first time. We had to wait for around 7 long hours before we could hold her, so I’d love to be able to relive that day and feel all the feels again.

What’s your top tip for getting traffic to your blog?

Engagement. Engage with your followers and readers. Interaction is key, otherwise what is the point? They’ll get bored and leave. Get to know them as best you can.

I hope you all enjoyed getting to know Mark through those questions. Don’t forget to check out Thoughts Of A First-Time Dad and follow Mark on social media, you can do so through on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
